Summary of changes needed
Note: You must run both the BMR calculator and Activity Calorie calculator prior to using the Weight Loss Calculator.
Your current CI will help us calculate the significance of the target values you select. If you track your calories or have a good approximation that is the best number to enter.
If you don't know, consider your currrent situation. Are you currently maintaining your weight? If you are then use your current CO as your CI, remember if CI (calories in) = CO (calories out) then you will be maintaining your existing weight.
If you are gaining then enter a number bigger than your CO. Then compare the weight gain value from the calculator to your current situation, adjust the CI until you get a number that shows you that value.
"Lock CI input" is a more advanced feature. If you have a specific calorie number you want to use this will keep the number from changing as you adjust your activity calories in the second part of the calculator. If you are entering a value less than 1200 for a woman or 1500 for a man be sure to check override defaults in addition to the lock CI input.
After selecting the weight to lose per week use the calc goals button to get your results.
By providing a target weight a date to reach that goal will be calculated.
Increasing the AC level will add more calories burned (meaning becoming more active through added exercise, and will also increase your CI (how much you can eat) unless the "Lock CI Input" is checked. This is a great way to play with the CI vs CO numbers to get the right balance for you. The AC cannot will not go below your daily activity level determined with the Activity Level calculator. If you feel your base activity calories are too high you need to re-run the Activity Level calculartor to reset that value.
The summary shows you what the results of your choices will mean. A negative number under calorie intake means you can eat more than you have your CI currently set to. The difficulty level is somewhat subjective and is intended to just help you think about how much effort will be involved. The higher the difficulty the less likely your plan will work.
We feel confident you will find this one of the best weight loss calculators on the internet. It lets you easily visualize the flexibilty you have in choosing between how much you eat and how much you exercise, to reach your target weight and later on what your numbers should be to maintain a healthier lifestyle.
